2024 has been a crazy and transformative year—full of firsts and big steps forward.
I wrapped my first short film as a director, shot my first feature as a cinematographer, and started putting together my own project. I also had the chance to work on multiple films, corporate projects, and music videos, constantly adapting and learning from each. Seeing one of the features I worked on play in a cinema was a real highlight.
Working as the cinematographer on They Might Be Monsters, my first feature film in that role, was an intense but incredibly rewarding experience. It felt like every lesson I’d ever learned—about lighting, composition, problem-solving, and working under pressure—was put to the test. The scale, the challenges, and the creative collaboration pushed me further than any project before, and seeing it all come together was one of the most satisfying moments of my career so far.
I also had the opportunity to work as a cinematographer on some amazing short films, including Her Name Was Lola and Reflection. Both were incredibly rewarding experiences, each presenting unique creative and technical challenges. Reflection, in particular, was a powerful project, bringing a real-life story to the screen in an intimate and emotional way. These films pushed me to refine my craft, collaborate with talented teams, and tell meaningful stories through visuals.
And to top it all off, I finished my first short film as a director, Alexa Loves Quizzes, which went on to win the Judges’ Choice Award at the White Rose Film Festival. Directing my own project was a completely different challenge—one that pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way possible. Seeing it resonate with audiences and even pick up awards was an incredible way to round off the year.
Looking back, it’s hard to see 2024 come to an end—it’s been a year of growth, challenges, and some of the most rewarding projects I’ve worked on. But as bittersweet as it is to close this chapter, I’m excited to see what 2025 brings. Here’s to new opportunities, new collaborations, and pushing things even further.
